Have you always wanted to write a novel?

My name’s Esther. I’m a certified book coach and developmental editor specialising in fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction. I help new and developing writers improve their writing craft, complete their first drafts, and guide them through revisions.

Humans have always told each other stories. Story is how we learn, make sense of the world , and gain empathy for those around us. And, of course, stories are fun to read and to tell.

"There have been great societies that did not use the wheel, but there have been no societies that did not tell stories"
Ursula K. Le Guin

If you've always wanted to write a novel, if you've started but never managed to finish your draft, read on.

Esther is an amazing mix of coach and cheerleader: she asks the tough questions and keeps tabs on your progress, but at all times I had a clear sense of her personal care for my work. She wanted to see me succeed. While working through the course, she helped me hone in on the theme of my story, so much so that I realized it wasn’t what I thought it was and had to backpedal. Her guidance was effective and empowering. The questions the course presented were thought-provoking and intentional. It’s not a course you can work through half-heartedly; it’s designed to produce results, and it did!

Does this sound like you?

You’ve been trying to finish your novel for years. You keep adding complexity to your world and story – another character, a new sub-plot. You’ve gone from a standalone novel to a duology; a trilogy to a series. Your story notes are growing into a novel in their own right, but the beautiful story you first envisioned has fizzled out.

You’re so buried under all the work you’ve done that you can’t figure out a way to get the book finished.

My book coaching packages are designed for writers just like you— passionate about their stories but overwhelmed by the process of completing a first draft and revising it into a polished book. Together we’ll untangle the threads that have you stuck, break your project into manageable steps, and re-energize your creative flow, so that you can get back to the joy of writing.

“So here is why I write what I do: We all have futures. We all have pasts. We all have stories. And we all, every single one of us, no matter who we are and no matter what’s been taken from us or what poison we’ve internalized or how hard we’ve had to work to expel it—we all get to dream.”

Robin Hobb

About Me

Hey there, my name’s Esther and I’m based in the South East of England.

I’ve always been an avid reader and have written my own stories since I was big enough to hold a pencil. Growing up, I was that child who carried a book everywhere, losing myself in worlds that felt more real than my own.

But turning my ideas into finished stories wasn’t easy. I’d start enthusiastically, only for the story to peter out leaving me unsure how to move forward. I tried both “pantsing” and detailed plotting, yet I kept getting stuck.

What changed? Writing is a craft and it takes practice and work. We gain an innate sense of how stories are told as we read and listen, but to create stories that draw readers in, we also need to master the skills and tools that shape them. It’s not just as easy as waiting for inspiration to strike. By taking my writing seriously, practicing the craft of writing, and figuring out myself as a creative, I began to write stories that I really loved. Coupled with the guidance of a mentor who provided structure and accountability, I’m finally finishing fiction pieces that I’m proud to share with others.

Now I’m passionate about helping other first-time writers avoid the same struggles. As a book coach, I offer empathy, experience, and practical support to help you finish your books and bring your visions to life. My goal is to support you to create stories that captivate, inspire, and make an impact—just like the books that inspired and shaped me.

When I not coaching and writing, I spend my days in the hills helping young people navigate the wilderness, set up tents without accidentally summoning portals, and stay on high alert for grizzly bears (an impressive feat, considering England’s complete lack of grizzlies).

I’m an Author Accelerator certified book coach, hold a Batchelor of Arts in the Arts and Humanities with a specialisation in Creative Writing, and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP UK). I am also a certified Mindset and Confidence Mentor.

As an Author Accelerator certified book coach, I’m qualified to coach writers using Author Accelerator’s strategy, methods, and materials, but I operate independently of Author Accelerator and am not affiliated with them.
